When we hear the word “self-awareness”, we usually think about how a person is aware of herself or herself. We may think that a self-aware person is one who is aware of the whole world around her. “The world is my oyster.” “I am the world.

If you were to read the definitions for self-awareness in the Oxford dicculus, you might think of it as “being aware of oneself and the world around oneself.” In other words, we’re aware of others. That awareness, which we call “self-awareness,” is based on the idea that we are the sum total of the things we’ve done, the things we have learned and the things we have experienced.

We all know people who have been in situations that were hard for them. Whether it was a friend who died or a lover who dumped them. The first step to becoming aware of your own self is to recognize the part of you that is still you and the part that is not you. The next step is to recognize the part of you that is still aware of the world around you. When you are aware of your own self you recognize yourself as a person.

This is the part of self that is not a person. When you are aware of yourself as a person, you can then recognize the part of you that is not a person. Once you recognize yourself as a being you then are able to recognize the part of you that is not a being. We all know people who are good at recognizing the part of themselves that is not a person. They are good at distinguishing themselves from a part of themselves that is not a being.

I am not judging you a person from a piece of paper. I am not judging you by an article on your website. I am simply seeing yourself as a person. The person who is on your website is the person you are on by definition.
