It’s true that one should write a lot of emails to friends, and the fact that you can’t see your writing while writing should be taken as a good sign. It also seems likely that writing a long email is a form of meditation for you. A friend of mine who is a writer says it’s like holding a pen to a piece of paper and holding it there for a long time.
Well, it is. Writing something is more like keeping it on your mind. When you write, you stay there longer and the ideas come faster. I suppose this applies to any kind of creative expression. I also think that the best way to write a long email is to write it down in your mind. This can be done while you type it.
